Sprint com quatro ciclistas define campeão do L’Étape Brasil by Tour de France 2022
Chilean Vicente Rojas achieved the highest result of his career at L'Étape Brasil by Tour de France presented by Santander.
L'Étape Brasil by Tour de France presented by Santander was defined in a sprint with four men's cyclists this Sunday (25), in Campos do Jordão (SP). In the distance of 107 kilometers, the Chilean Vicente Rojas crossed the finish line practically in the photo-finish, surpassing Euller Magno, Caio Godoy and Bruno Lemes.
In the women's category, the winner of the long course was Fernanda Maceira Martello, who repeated her double on the podium at L'Étape Rio 2022 with Cristiane Pereira da Silva. Victoria Martins Remaili was in third place.
More than 3,600 cyclists from all over the country and abroad participated in the eighth edition of the event, which also passed through cities in the region, such as Santo Antônio do Pinhal. The event is considered the largest in Latin America.
Athletes aged 18 to 85 cycled L’Étape Brasil, which offered a reduced 66-kilometer version for road cyclists. There were 12 waves starting at 6 am, with temperatures below 6 degrees at the start of the race, but blue skies for 100% of the route.
”L’Étape Brasil by Tour de France was one of the most balanced of the entire historic series. It is clear that with each passing year, amateur athletes are increasingly prepared. More than the sporting result, the race is an experience, an opportunity for cyclists to pedal in one of the biggest and best structured events in Latin America”, said Bruno Prada, organizer of the race.
During the three days of the event, more than 18,000 people visited the Village of L'Étape. The place was the meeting point for the participants, in addition to receiving the exhibitors.
In addition to Banco Santander, the partner that gives the naming rights to the event, other major brands are present over the three days at the Campos do Jordão Convention Center. Samaritano Sports Medicine, Mitsubishi Motors, Specialized, Continental, VIVO and Michelob were among the sponsors.

Chilean is the champion of L'Étape Brasil 2022
Chilean Vicente Rojas achieved his highest career result at L'Étape Brasil by Tour de France presented by Santander. At just 20 years old, the Swift Carbon representative has made it his goal to overcome his opponents with his scale strength and sprint speed. He was the first foreigner to win in Campos do Jordão (SP).
Part of the script by the athlete from Chile and his coach worked! Vicente Rojas covered the course in 2h54min47s, hundredths of seconds ahead of his opponents. The dispute narrowed after Serra Velha, when the group stood out from the first platoon. Specialists in climbing, the quartet recovered the advantage that belonged to the sprinter André Gohr from Santa Catarina, who dominated the first kilometers of L'Étape Brasil.
”It was a very tough test! I've been thinking about winning L'Étape Brasil for two months now. I trained a lot to get this victory. I changed strategy when I couldn't attack in Serra Velha, I held out well and used my speed spike to attack at the end. The sprint was very hard. Only mind and heart”, said Vicente Rojas.
The Strava King and Queen of the Mountain award for men went to Euller Magno (UniFUNVIC), runner-up this year. The test had 2,300 meters of accumulated altimetry in the long course of 107 kilometers. The Santander Sprint winner for the fastest cyclist over 150 meters went to Argentine Francisco Chamorro.
Podium like the one in Rio de Janeiro
Before leaving, L’Étape Brasil by Tour de France presented by Santander broke the record for women cycling. More than 600 entered the event, which has the seal of the Tour de France. It is the highest number recorded since 2015, when L'Étape Brasil was held for the first time in Cunha (SP).
On the road, Fernanda Maceira Martello maintained the favoritism that came since June, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), when the athlete won the stage in Rio. The final time was 3h23min03s189. Second in L’Étape rio, Cristiane Pereira da Silva repeated her place on the podium, with 3h25min43s063 and Victoria Martins Remaili took the bronze, with 3h29min14s381.
Fernanda Maceira Martello was also the first Strava King and Queen of the Mountain award.
We are back in Cunha City - São Paulo, in March 2023
Cycling fans received firsthand on the Saturday of the event (24) about the return of L'Étape in Cunha (SP) on the last weekend of March 2023. The city in the interior of São Paulo hosted the first editions of the Tour de France in Brazil, in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
In 2023, L'Étape will also have editions in Rio de Janeiro, on the last weekend of June, and in Campos do Jordão (SP), at the end of September.
”The calendar was designed for cyclists with a three-month break between races. In Cunha we rescued part of our history and answered a request from the athletes. The city of São Paulo has good roads and a fantastic view”, explained Bruno Prada, organizer of the event.
